Privacy Policy

Usage and analytics data. When you visit the site we record pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, referrer, browser and device type, and the actions you take — including whether you started the live demo and how long you stayed in it.

Session recordings. We record how you interact with the product: clicks, scrolling, map movement, and page navigation, replayed as a video-like session. This includes the text you type into the chat box. It does not include passwords or the contents of sign-in forms, which are masked before the recording leaves your browser.

Questions you ask. The questions you type into CapacitiMap, and any files you upload for analysis, are processed to answer them and retained so we can understand what our users need and improve the product.

Account information. If you create an account or contact us, we collect your name, email address, organization, and anything else you choose to send.

The demo runs on a shared account that anyone can enter without signing up. We do not know who you are while you use it, and we do not try to find out. We do measure the demo in aggregate — how many people start it, how long they stay, and what they ask — and those recordings and questions are covered by everything above.

Because the account is shared, treat the demo as a public space: anything you type into it should be information you are comfortable sharing with us.

To operate and secure the platform, to answer your questions, to understand which features matter and where the product is confusing, and to respond when you contact us. We do not sell personal information, and we do not serve advertising.

We use a small number of service providers, each of which processes data on our behalf under contract:

• PostHog — product analytics and session recording.
• Anthropic — the AI model that answers your questions. Your questions and any uploaded file contents are sent to it for processing.
• Clerk — accounts, sign-in, and organization membership.
• Amazon Web Services — hosting, data storage, and outbound email.

We may also disclose information where required by law, or in connection with a merger or acquisition.

We use cookies and similar browser storage for two purposes: keeping you signed in, and analytics as described above. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, though sign-in will not work without them.

Session recordings and analytics events are retained for up to 12 months. Account information is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Enquiries sent through the contact form are retained as ordinary business correspondence.

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — including session recordings. Email us and we will act on it. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them regardless of where you are.

Most browsers offer a “Do Not Track” or global privacy control signal; we honor it where your browser sends one.

CapacitiMap is a tool for energy and infrastructure professionals. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above. Material changes to what we collect will be announced in the product before they take effect.
